Why do Scouts wear uniform?
Scouting is a uniformed organisation. All our sections and many of our adult volunteers wear uniform.
It is important to us that no one feels uncomfortable or excluded. Our uniform is one of the ways we encourage a sense of belonging. Wearing our uniform can help us feel part of a team, our Lodge, Colony, and Group, and the worldwide Scouting family.
Our uniform is comfortable and practical so we are always prepared for adventure, challenge, and fun.
Our uniform is a place for us to display and celebrate our hard work and achievements. When we earn an Activity Badge or Challenge Award we sew these badges onto our uniform for everyone to see.
Taking responsibility for our own uniforms (learning how to wear it, remembering to wear it to all of our meetings, and helping to keep it clean and in good repair) is a good way to learn and practice skills for life.
Scouting for all
Everyone should been given the opportunity to fully participate in Scouts. Please do get in touch to discuss options if your young person would benefit from adjustments to the uniform or if you need financial assistance to purchase uniform.
