Our Group
We are the 64th Edinburgh North East Scout Group. We are part of the Edinburgh North East District in the South East Scotland Region. We have a team of enthusiastic adult volunteers and around 50 Scouts, between the ages of 6 and 14, across three Scout Sections. All young people are welcome in Scouting, regardless of gender, disability, class or socio-economic status, ethnic or national origin, nationality or race, religion, belief or faith, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
We are part of the worldwide educational youth movement known as Scouting. The Scout Movement began with 20 boys attending an experimental camp on Brownsea Island (near Poole in Dorset, England) in August 1907. The camp’s organiser Robert Baden-Powell shared his training and methods in Scouting for Boys in January 1908. The book has sold over 100 million copies and there are have been 500 million Scouts and adult volunteers in over 200 countries and territories.
By organising youth-shaped, adventurous, and most importantly, fun activity programmes throughout the year our team of adult volunteers aims to actively engage and support young people in their personal development; preparing them with skills for life and empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
