Beaver Leaders
Our Beaver Leaders are adult volunteers who manage the Beaver Colony, plan and deliver the fun and challenging Programme, and support Beaver Scouts to learn, develop, and make a positive contribution to society.
All our Leaders have completed a Personal Enquiry, with Disclosure Check (PVG), adhere to the Scout Association anti-bullying, equal opportunities, safety and child protection policies, and have access to training to support them in their roles.
Catherine
Beaver Leader
Hello! My name is Catherine, and I volunteer as the Beaver Leader for the Stockbridge Beaver Colony.
I am passionate about supporting young people to learn, develop, and have fun. Although this is my first role within Scouting, I was a Rainbow, Brownie and Guide growing up in London and West Lothian. I also have eight years of experience volunteering with young people with Girlguiding, RNIB, and West Lothian Council.
I was excited to get involved with Scouting because of the importance placed on inclusion and equity of opportunities for all.
I have a degree in English literature, a background in administration, and my hobbies include crafting, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and organising (I own a label maker).
I am sight impaired and use a white cane.

Cliona
Assistant Beaver Leader
Hello, my name is Cliona and I am a volunteer Assistant Beaver Leader. I moved to Edinburgh in the summer of 2023 to start my first job after graduating in June – I studied French, Spanish and Management at university.
I grew up involved in all aspects of Girlguiding and the Scouting movement throughout my childhood, as a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide, Scout and Explorer in the north-east of Scotland. Being part of these communities had a huge positive impact on my childhood growing up and I aim to create a similar safe space for young people to learn and grow, while having fun!
In my spare time, I love dancing, reading, traveling and exploring – and I am on a mission to discover the best coffee house in Edinburgh!
Sikandar
Assistant Beaver Leader
I am Sikandar (It’s what the Persians called Alexander the Great), a volunteer Assistant Beaver Leader.
I decided to get involved with Scouting when my partner, Catherine, began to reestablish Beavers in Stockbridge. I’m excited to meet your young people, see them learn and grow while accompanying them on their many adventures.
I am doing a PhD in Economics.
My hobbies include reading, playing video games and recreational mathematics.

I have a background working with youth and young adults in both nonprofit and university environments.
Some of my hobbies include: hiking, camping, travelling, reading, documentaries, and playing games with friends.
